Smile I Need help with My Sky Router!!

At the minute, i have trouble with my router. every so often, the internet goes down and it says that the "Internet Explorer cannot display Webpage". Everytime it does this, I have unplug the power from the router and reconnect again, and getting a bit annuoying.

I have checked all the connections between the pc and router and also phoned BT to check the line. They are saying that the line is working fine. All the microfilters are in place as well. So does anyone think i think a faulty router or i am missing something. Suggestions are needed so i can solve this problem.

      Thanks

Re: I Need help with My Sky Router!!

A faulty router is probably one of the least likely reasons.

There are a number of reasons for disconnections - if there is a pattern then diagnosis is easier.

If the disconnections are frequent (possibly up to every 15 minutes) then it may be the UPnP "bug", Disable it in the router.

If the disconnections tend to happen in the evenings look for a falling noise margin as the cause. See the first sticky in my signature.

If the disconnections are random then look to line problems, wireless problems or cable/router problems as the likely cause. Posting your full stats would help in diagnosing line problems. Also see the cabling and faceplate help forum.

Take a while to look through the forum - you'll find a lot of useful info.
