      Re: only getting around 2Mbps on ADSL2+

      The 3 problems you list are all symptoms of the same problem, which is noise on your line. Your SNR is not low, it is high if anything, for your attenuation, this is a symptom of being capped. If you were not capped your errors would be much higher.

      Your latest stats show a lot of errors, most from this period-
      15 minutes interval [-45 min to -30 min] time = 15 min 0 sec
      SF = 49656
      CRC = 1064
      LOS = 101
      LOF = 0
      ES = 55

      Having the phone plugged in should not make much difference as long as the filter and/or phone are not faulty. Can you try another filter? Do you have your Sky box plugged in somewhere?

      Re: only getting around 2Mbps on ADSL2+

      I don't have anything else plugged in. I'll try another filter.
      So, what should be my next step ?

      The results for the same interval, but this time without a phone connected, are:

      15 minutes interval [-45 min to -30 min] time = 15 min 0 sec
      SF = 51107
      CRC = 718
      LOS = 232
      LOF = 0
      ES = 146

      It looks like the problem is outside your control or you may have a faulty router. If you have another router, you could try that. Apart from that, all I can suggest is that you call BT and tell them you are hearing humming and buzzing noises on your phone line. If you do this do not mention Sky Broadband, or they will do nothing. With a bit of luck they will find a fault and fix it. Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe someone else can.

      You could try using this Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4 to switch the line to G.DMT for the moment to see if it is any more stable.
      Any changes you make with this program will be lost if you reboot the router.

      Sorry, I did not notice you were on ADSL2+, very unusual for your Sync. I agree completely with Koala, some lines just cannot handle ADSL2+, yours may be one of them. This is a work-around though and not a fix. I still think you should call BT.

      well I've managed to get the speed upto about 3.5meg (using an old microfilter and cables etc), but I'll phone BT, and let them know about my humming and buzzing problem (cough cough)

      Sods Law mate, everything and anything that could go wrong, has gone wrong, ever since I moved into my new flat a month ago, lol !

      Update:

      Well, the woman I spoke to on 151 is carrying out a line test, and will ring me back in a few minutes. Any helpful tips, to help nudge her in the right direction ?

      Edit:

      Well, she couldn't find a fault on the line, so she has sent it to Open Reach. If they go to the exchange, won't they realise that I've got Sky BB ?

      So, I tried switching to G.DMT, but it wouldn't connect at all. I'd get a good Downstream connection speed of around 8megs, and good attentuation and noise margin, but it just wouldn't connect. After a few seconds, everything would go to 0. I noticed that the noise margin wasn't yo-yoing around at all (unlike the way it does on ADSL2+). I think around 7096 Kbps, the noise margin stayed constant at 8, but like I said, after a few seconds (about 5 or so), the settings all went to 0.
      So, I'm back to my router saying it's connected at 10megs, and then the noise margin yo-yoing from 7.1 - 0.1, and then eventually being connected at about 2megs

      Re: only getting around 2Mbps on ADSL2+

      This is the Broadband arm of BT, so I think she must have realized you had broadband. TBH when they discover you are not with BT broadband, they may decide to do nothing. I don't know if they could, even if they wanted to, as far as I know the exchange equipment belongs to Sky, so they would have to get a request from Sky.

      You have an enormous noise margin which would indicate that you have been capped, but I can't see Sky capping you so severely without moving you to G.DMT.

      I honestly don't think your line is capable of carrying ADSL2+, so your best option may be to phone Sky and ask them to put you on G,DMT. You stats say you are on FAST, which makes it even worse. I have read that this is a bug, but I don't know for sure. Maybe Saturday could advise you what to do, he has much more experience with this. It is a pity you do not have another router to try, the whole problem could be down to a faulty router.
