      Guess What? Disconnects!

      hi all

i have a decent speed for connections, but there seem to be random disconnects going on, when the internet stops, i have to reboot the router.

i have a decent speed but the disconnects are quite frustrating and annoying, can anyone advise from the stats? i have turned off upnp and i don't use the wireless, so switched that off as well

is there anything i can do? also any idea how i can get closer to my max rate?!

      Re: Guess What? Disconnects!

I can't tell a lot from the stats you've posted because you've only got 26 minutes worth of data.

Here's a suggestion. The next time the Internet connection seems to die, don't reboot the router. Instead, try to see if you can access the router's configuration pages by going to http://192.168.0.1/ and if you can, on the Router Status page (the one you normally get when you connect to the router) click on the Connection Status button (you'll have to switch off popup blocking if you've got that switched on). Click on the Disconnect button and wait for the connection to disconnect. Then click on the Connect button and wait for it to connect.

As soon as you've done that, try getting your detailed statistics again and post them here. My guess is that you'll see in the statistics for the previous 15-minute periods, that you have CRC error counts that are very close to the SF count values.

well, you were right about the crc errors being close to the sf value.

is there anything i can do about it?

      thanks...!

      Hi there,

could you try the test socket, this would rule out your internal wiring as the problem and could be looked at from there

Try plugging into the Test socket, there is a good chance your internal wiring is interfering with the connection. If this does not help, capping your line may be necessary, don't ask Sky to do it, forum members will tell you how.

      Re: Guess What? Disconnects!

      delete post, talking rubbish...

EDIT: i wouldn't think line needs capping - attenuation levels are fine. its the 'whole router being a bit poo' and Sky's implementation of adsl (if you go by James' reasoning)

by guess is an extention in use, or another socket not filtered should it be already in the master. As said already I'd use the test socket if u have one and this will hopefully show an improvement
