      download speeds???

      hi all

Im on the max package and im connected to the exchange at 7360Kbps and get an average speedtest of around 5.5-6Kbps, when i download torrents i get a max speed of around 700Kbps, should i be able to get faster download speeds? i get my torrents from good private trackers (TL, BCG etc) and i have forwarded ports correctly. is there anything stopping me getting greater speeds or am i maxed out already

      Cheers
      Danny

      Re: download speeds???

If your router is syncing at 7360kbps then the download speed should be ~5888kbps (which is what you're getting). The shortfall between sync and download speed is due to the transmission overheads inherent in the TCP/IP protocol.

Whether your router could sync at a higher speed is another question of course. What are your connection stats?

According to your details you are on Mid, is this correct, or have you just forgot to change it?

You don't say which P2P program you're using, but all the ones I've used report speeds in kiloBYTES per second, whereas your router, and most speed test sites will report speed in kiloBITS per second.

You need to multiply that 700 figure by 8 to get a value in kilobits per second, which you can compare against other speed measurements.
