Try turning off the router
I am lucky in that, being based in central London, I seem to be getting the 16mg speeds promised in the adverts. However, all of a sudden, the speed dropped to sub-dialup one morning. Tech support told me that the sky router doesn't like to be left on all the time and I should 'give it a breather' i.e. turn it off at night. I did and speeds are back up at 16mg.
Strange but true.

that's t*ss . Unless the kernel has a resource leak there is no reason to turn off the router ...

mmm... one has to worry when a sentence is begun "with respect".
Maybe it was the turning on and off that did it. Either way it seemed to work.

just for you I have removed the 'with respect' then ....
I've had routers from bt, 3com , linksys , even one the very first 2 box adsl implementations when it was in beta test, none of them have had to be 'rested' and performed just as well after 12months uptime....
