Slow connection? see if your really have here

hello all, welcome the noob, lol.

i had my sky broadband max active since the 6th september, but gettin really slow speeds, i been reading through these forums ever since. now today, i think my connection has really changed.

since i tried this, i would like to know peoples responses to this.

goto this ftp mirror site Debian worldwide mirror sites

      choose the great britain mirror....
and choose to save the file "ls-lR.gz" (just as its the biggest file there)

now mine finished downloading 38.6mb in 35 seconds (plz see my attached pic)

i think this is a good way to test ur sky connection, im sorry if this has already been posted, hope this helps.

please post your download speeds, thank you.

Hmmm, it's really just a way of doing manually what the speed test sites do behind a fancy front end. Try out Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and see what kind of result you get. Remember speedtest.net reports bits per second as opposed to what IE is reporting which is bytes per second - just multiply the value IE is giving by 8 and you'll get a figure you can compare with the speedtest.net result.

Plus speedtest.net will give you a link to a pretty result image that you can put in your posts, or in your signature like mine below.
