      Lose internet every 10 minutes

Hi there, I'm new to these forums so I don't exactly know what information you need I'm afraid, but here is my problem:

      - When I switch on my computer I have 10 minutes before I need to restart again. When I restart I then have another 10 mins and it goes on
      - It's the same amount of time every time
      - It starts from when the computer is actually turned on, not from when a user logs in

As I say, I don't have any idea what sort of info I need to give you so just let us know what you need. Any help is greatly appreciated.

      Cheers,
      Craig

First off are you connecting wirelessly, or via ethernet?
Do you mean that you are rebooting the PC and/or the router?

You may have the upnp bug, try switching it off and see if the problem goes away.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/tools/HowTo...rSkyRouter.pdf

Next thing is to check your router stats.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-routerstats.html

Connect your router via the master test socket and recheck them.

Post the results and the experts will pronounce.

Hi there, sorry I've not replied, been away for a while and thanks for your reply btw.

I'm connected via ethernet and I have to reboot my PC every ten minutes, rebooting the router does nothing. Also my iBook works fine when I plug that in.

I have tried doing all sorts of virus checks etc after visiting the bleepingcomputer forums, but nothing worked. Although I managed to get it back on for one day (not sure how?).

I've tried turnig off the uPnP but that hasn't changed anything.

Sorry again for being a bit vague, here are my stats:

Do you get a window telling you that windows is going to shut down after 60 secs and then countdown to auto reboot ?

I don't no, I lose the internet after 10 minutes (although my PC still shows that there is a connection) and then I have to restart my PC manually so I can get the internet on again if you follow.

Re: Lose internet every 10 minutes

Well, there's nothing wrong with your broadband connection. 192 CRC errors in the previous 24 hour period is pretty damned good, so that suggests the problem must be between the router and the PC, although I must say I'm stumped as to what that problem might be.

When you say your internet connection always dies after 10 minutes, do you mean that literally, or are you saying you get a few minutes use (say between 5 and 30 minutes) before it dies?

Also, after your connection has died, are you still about to communicate with the router by going to http://192.168.0.1/?

Edit: sorry, I noticed you did already answer question 2 in your original post.

Re: Lose internet every 10 minutes

It is exactly ten minutes in each time give or take a few seconds maybe.

As for the second question, it only shows an active connection on my desktop in my network places, I can't connect to http://192.168.0.1/

I'm at a complete losss myself too, been without proper internet for a good month now, that can make a man go crazy

      Thanks for your help btw.
