      Too many disconnects!

      Hi Folks,

      I've had sky for a good few months now, but over the last month or so I have noticed that I loose the connection to sky most nights at about 8pm (this is when I really want to use it ). I assume this is because of an increase in noise at the time of night. I thought rebooting the router should allow it to reconnect, however this doesn't work and I have to wait about 30-45 mins before I can reconnect.

      Also I don't leave my router on all the time (trying to be good to the environment!), so what should I do to try and correct this problem? and how can I make it permanent?

      Sorry if this has been answered before, I did have a look but couldn't quite find the answer to my issue.

      Thanks for that, but I looked there first. It doesn't seem to reconnect if I reboot the router (or the computer for that matter) as suggested on that page.

      I suspect that it is a noise issue, as it happens at the same time every night but rebooting doesn't fix it, even temporarily

      it may also be down to an external noise spike, have you had a look at your router stats to see what errors you have ?

      I don't know if it will work, but when you are disconnected open the Connection Status link on the Router Status page, click Disconnect, even if you are not connected, then Connect. This will not solve your problem, but may get you back online quicker.

      not a very lomg time and some errors already, are you using the test socket ?
      if not you coul;d try and post some more stats

      No I'm not using the test socket. It's an upheavel to move the computer to the test socket so I'd have to wait until the weekend to try that.

      i think the extension you are using may be causing the problem,
      if test socket produces better stats (no errors) quickest way to keep error free would be to leave router by master socket and use cat 5 extesion to computer (use filter at master socket or go the whole 10 yards and fit an adsl nation face plate)
