      Why?

Your router sync speed is determined by a number of factors, principally attenuation and line "quality". Firmware won't make any difference to that.

Your attenuation at 63.5db puts you near the limit for a stable ADSL connection. 2 meg is a pretty good result. It would only take a tiny change in your line quality to cause this to drop to 1.5 meg. I suspect maybe you've booted your router at a time of slightly higher noise than previously. Line noise changes routinely during the day - see the first sticky in my signature.

Only if it was much shorter than your existing line. Unless you need the unlimited download you would be better pushing for a reduction to MID. You are never going to be able to take advantage of the high speed available with MAX.

If you were capped at 1.5 but only had a noise margin of 7.4db when you took the stats, uncapped at 2.2 your noise margin is going to be lower than 7.4db at the same time of day. Keep an eye on it as dropping much lower than ~6.5db is going to give you problems.
