    Activated, no router, sky sending password...

    This is a discussion on Activated, no router, sky sending password... within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; My activation date was the 11th and sure enough it was activated as I could see on my old router ...

      Activated, no router, sky sending password...

      My activation date was the 11th and sure enough it was activated as I could see on my old router that the light was solid. Unfortunately sky still haven't sent my router out to me.

      I phoned them again this morning and was again quoted the 3-5 days thing and "we don't send them out till after you've gone live" (had no answer to why they hadn't already sent it out then as I was live yesterday)....after I complained and asked for my username and password to use my own router the guy talked to the "technical" department and gave me my broadband username and said they will send my password out to me in the post.

      I find this a little hard to believe..what do you think?

      Was the Username in the format of:

      "Login"=maccode@skydsl

      If it was joebloggs@sky.com this is not the same thing

      yeah it was firstname.surname and nothing else. sky are starting to annoy me

      the username/password for ur own router are locked in the firmware of the router and until you get it are known to no one....

      the username u were given is ur webmail login, and the password is not recorded on any system - it can only be reissued via post...

      Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, that is the username for the Sky Portal here:

      http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/mysky

      Not for your router. I am afraid until you get your router, that is the only time your router username and password would be available to you. But then only if you use a utility to extract them.

      Welcome to the club.

      Activation date 11th BT confirmed activation on 12th. No router still ordered 2 weeks ago tomorrow.

      well it's not the username I use! I knew that about them being embedded in the router but I clearly explained that I wanted them while I was waiting for the router to arrive...some seriously dim people working on the phones at sky, almost as bad as virgin!

      I'm in the same boat too, ordered Sky BB (Mid) on Sep 3...got the initial letter saying welcome to Sky BB blah blah blah...have not received anything since...so I called them up last night and was told that my line was activated yesterday (12th) and the router was being delayed by Parcelforce or something like that...so I have an active line but no router or login details...and so far only 1 letter from Sky which didn't tell me anything useful i.e. no activation date or login details.

      I can see why so many ppl are frustrated by this weird setup process Sky have adopted...previous ISPs have sent me my login details and password way before the activation date!
