      Angry Default Gateway - Help

I have Sky broadband and I am presently getting thrown out my internet connection after 17 minutes. I had to login 5 times last night to be able to last longer than the 17 mins. I checked with my msn to see what the problem was and is said I had a default gateway.

      Can anyone help.........

Have you tried turning the UPnP off?

      Re: Default Gateway - Help

      Hi

The UPnP has been known to cause issues like you are experiencing.

To put it simply a router needs ports opened for certain applications to run, UPnP does this process automatically. Imagine a router is like 65,000 back doors onto your PC. When the router is received all these back doors are locked. Opening UPnP opens some of these doors to allow information access to your PC.

eg. If you wanted to host a game server on your PC, then you would need to open certain ports to allow others to connect to your server.

Hope I have explained that simply enough to understand.
