Yes, I know, but I try not to encourage cross-posting/hijacking as it makes threads difficult to follow. The poster should open his own thread.

Re: Only getting under 2mb on sky max

      Hi

I just joined sky Broadband Max 16Mb, as most to you I was very excited to do a BB speed check. found that I am only getting 6Mb (pc) 8Mb (router). Before making the jump to sky I checked my possible tel BB speed in the sky website 8mb to 16mb. Now after installation it says that my line can only handle up to 6mb. So was is going on here? I live 800metres from Hove exchange so would expect better conextion.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 24.0 db 16.5 db
Noise Margin 14.4 db 13.0 db

      BT or SKY ??

You appear to be capped at 8mb, but I would advise you to open your own thread and post your detailed stats, hijacking another's thread just leads to confusion. In theory, your attenuation should support 14-16mb.

Re: Only getting under 2mb on sky max

ok received new sky router had make no difference all sky reporting that can only get a dl speed of 2.5mb but on a ftp site can get the full 8mb.

found out something interesting phone back the number that tier 3 phoned me on 02070324444 and it turns out to be easynet so sky getting there tier 3 done by easynet this could be the reason for the diffence tiers of support and the reason for the delays.Sky must be doing the the tier 1 support.

Re: Only getting under 2mb on sky max

You have not really been running long enough to get an accurate picture, give it 24 hours and see how the errors are then. If they remain low or none at all you can phone T3 and ask them to lift the cap.

Easynet are owned by Sky, you will notice that Speed tests show Easynet as the ISP. I think it depends how busy they are as to which office you are directed to.

Re: Only getting under 2mb on sky max

I have been in contact with tier 1 have to wait 2 to 5 days for call back. Most ISP have one support option not 3 levels of support lol.Unless they have to contact BT for some reason.Bethere my last ISP could change your snr profile while you were on the phone or 24 hours at most.

Re: Only getting under 2mb on sky max

Your SNR and ATT look fine, if you're getting actual download speeds that match your sync speed (8Mb) then this is fine. What Sky need to do is stop looking at what BT *estimate/think* you should get, and set the line for what you CAN get. Sky need to remove your G-DMT/8Mb cap.
