Angry 3 months to migrate, and then cancelled after a month!

It took over 3 months to migrate my broadband service to Sky BB. It had been running ok for 1 month and then I lost internet access.

I called Sky and got through to Tier 3. The support person did the usual tests on the line and then noticed that, for some unknown reason, my broadband account has been cancelled. Sure enough, on my profile on sky.com my broadband max service is no longer listed.

The support person has passed the info over to 'provisioning' and my service will be re-ordered. This could take around 2 weeks, which, as I rely on my home internet access for work, is far from ideal.

Has anyone else had their access cancelled without any known reason?

there must be some sort of record within the system as to why the account was cancelled - having said that it shouldn't be relied upon for work as it's consumer service so you'd get no sympathy but thats not the point.....

customer services should be able to go through ur records and see if there was a cease order put on the account and for what reason

Thats what I would have thought. However, when I spoke to 'provisioning' for my 'new' order they were asking me why it had been cancelled - I told them that they had done it, but they couldn't tell me why.

The lady I spoke to on Friday said that I'd be re-connected within 48 hours, but, unsurprisingly, I'm still not re-connected, even though I've had a message left on my answer phone saying that its now active.

IF its had a complete cancel it won't be 48hrs....it'd be more like a new connection which can be up 2 2 weeks

could be wrong tho so dont qote me on that...

Re: 3 months to migrate, and then cancelled after a month!

Thats what the guy in tier 3 who I spoke to when it was initially cancelled said (it'd take around 2 weeks). So, I was quite surprised when the woman in provisioning said it'd take 48 hours on Friday.

Not sure why they've left a message saying I'm now active when I'm clearly not though (I have tried re-booting the router)

It would only be 48 hours if it was already underway and had been expedited with Openreach. Expedites can be done in 3 days at a cost of 100 to the business. Under the circumstances Sky should have had to bear that cost for ceasing your service without good reason.

Thumbs down Re: 3 months to migrate, and then cancelled after a month!

Well, I received a letter yesterday from Sky stating that my BroadBand had been cancelled "as per my request".

Of course, I have never made such a request so I would really, really like to know why they think I cancelled it.

I can't believe how shocking their service is

Re: 3 months to migrate, and then cancelled after a month!

If there was no mention of penalties for cancelling the Broadband, then I think someone is trying to 'pass the buck'. Every other case I have heard of they were advised that they would have to pay up the contract to get out of it. I think a suitably worded email to Mr. Murdoch may be in order, it seems to be the only way to get sense out of some of these people. We all know that Mr. M. never sees these emails, but it does seem to lift it out of the dismal CS we are all used to.
