      Slow connection and drop outs

      Hi All

I'm new to this forum but wondered if you could help?

My current router stats are below.

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 25845 38993 0 4422 29167 00:28:03
      LAN 10M/100M 40979 27591 0 29487 4810 00:28:47
      WLAN 11M/54M/108M 200 91 0 32 5 00:28:37

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12137 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 36.0 db 20.5 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 12.5 db

My problem is that my connection keeps dropping out and the only way to restore the internet is to reset the router.

My connection says it is a good speed but my internet still crawls.

      Any ideas?

      Cheers

      Wildyoda

Re: Slow connection and drop outs

      Hi Wildyoda,

first thinhg is to use master socket if poss, telephone extensions cause lots of problems, if you are in master socket try taking face plate off and using test socket behind

full stats would be better, people will be able to see if errors

As for your reply i'm a bit of a novice but learning.

My router is connected to a splitter which is connected directly to the bt main socket.

My connection has been fine up until now and suddenley everything has gone bad.

I have been dowenloading at 1.2Mbps but now it tops out at around 300Kbps

      Any ideas.?

Re: Slow connection and drop outs

hmm your sync speed is around 12.1mbpish...Now your geting alot of errors (CRC) which is probably becuase your on ADSL2 and your line is not really compatible with ADSL2.....im really kinda stumped why sky havent capped u back down to ASL1, they usually do automaticly when u have as many errors as you are seeing..

Also we can see a few los of signals....

My bet is that your getting dissconnections and slow speeds becuase your on ADSL2+. I would personally downgrade back to G.DMP(ADSL1) which is capping yourself to 8mb and this should reduce the amount of errors u get and los of signals... It should also increae your speeds quite a but too.... you can use Mognuses tool to downgrade your line post for any more help.

Re: Slow connection and drop outs

filter should go DIRECTLY into the socket, then the splitter off that - give that a try and it should get rid of the errors....

Re: Slow connection and drop outs

when you say splitter do you mean filter, you could try with just the filter and sky plugged in (sometimes it is even a faulty fllter, sky supply 3 normaly) also see faceplate and filter thread to check wires in your socket
