      Concerned about losing ADSL access

I am currently with Zen on an 8mb package.

Today I received a letter from sky telling me that my Sky max service should be live by TOMORROW 7'th.

I am to expect my router shortly, it goes on to say.

Now, if they enable my line for sky on the 7'th and no router has been delivered, does that mean I no longer have ADSL access via Zen via my existing router?

I thought transferring to another provider via a mac number meant that the was no more than a couple of hours at most without ADSL access.

This is not what I agreed to. I agreed to a smooth transfer with minimal interruption to my Internet access.

****By the way, just noticed that the letter is dated 31-08-07.*****

Re: Concerned about losing ADSL access

If you are going on to Connect, the router is not dispatched until the line is activated for some stupid reason, even if you have changed with a MAC. If you are going direct to Sky's LLU service the router is usually sent before the line is active. Keep your router powered up with Zen until the connection drops or until the router arrives.

I am going onto the 16mb LLU service, as I live almost next door to the exchange.

      When did you order Skybroadband?

The router normally arrives 3-5 days after order acceptance via Parcelforce.

I ordered via MAC code and was without internet for around 30 minutes

Re: Concerned about losing ADSL access

      I signed up on 29-08-07.

Few days later a letter arrived congratulating me for my choice.

Then another letter arrived telling me that I will shortly receive a username and password.

Today a letter arrived telling me that my activation date is tomorrow 7'th.
I will shortly receive my self setup pack in the post.

I assume that is the router and cd and instructions?

Re: Concerned about losing ADSL access

      Just spoke to sky!

I am not very impressed at all!

It seems that they have had a "Technical Fault"

Letters were not being sent to the router suppliers. They only found out about the fault today.

They cannot say when my router will arrive and I am very likely to lose my existing service tomorrow and it may be a few days or more before the router is likely (guess by advisor).

Is this a sample of what I will expect with sky, I ask myself. Have I done the right thing moving over to them!

Yes, I agree, but as I am hard of hearing, I tend to use the Internet for communication quite a lot!
