Re: Concerned about losing ADSL access

Just spoke to sky again, after going through the long winded menu system.

They can only quote "router will be with me within 5 working days".

      Useless B********.

It's ok for most to be without Internet access for several days, but as I am hard of hearing I use the Internet to do a lot of my communicating with the world.

      Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh!

Everyone seems to have forgotten about good old dial-up.

Take a look at SOS Broadband - Flash Intro

Claiming to be the 'Broadband Breakdown, Rescue & Assistance'. If the Internet is that important, then they might be able to help at a cost.

PLUSNET along with some others, provide a PAYG Dial-up service, which costs only local dial rate. If you still have a modem it is well worth opening an account.

Re: Concerned about losing ADSL access

You have 8 days to cancel without penalty, but is this from activation or actually receiving the router? You should wait at least until next Friday before cancelling, but you should phone Sky CS and ask them where your router is. Maybe one of the Sky bods on the forum can give you the best number to call for this.

Just a thought, is the 8 days for cancellation, working days? Every other waiting time given is working days!

Re: Concerned about losing ADSL access

Had a 37 minute call to sky today.

Router allegedley has been dispatched today, but something has gone seriusly wrong with my account setup according to a sky rep.

No password or username has been sent to me for email purposes.
      They are looking into that.

They conirmed that the 8 day cooling off period begins when you first logon with their router.

I will get a credit for thr problems I have had and for all the phone calls.

Jus to rub salt into the wond, I jus had an sms from sky congratlating me and informing me that my skybroadband is now live.
      Pity I cannot use it!

      Not registered with My Sky.

Forgot to mention that I also requested a mac code should the router not arrive soon.
