      Internet Light On Unable To Browse (Off and On-net)

      We have be getting alot of these calls recently in the Sky call centre.

      I would ask that the customer does the following BEFORE calling Sky Broadband Tech Support

      1. Disable your antivirus or Internet security as this can block port 80
      2. Try and ping a website by going to Start --> Run --> Cmd --> Ping Yahoo! UK & Ireland you should get
      Pinging Yahoo! UK & Ireland [] with 32 bytes of data:

      Reply from bytes=32 time=67ms TTL=243
      Reply from bytes=32 time=31ms TTL=243
      Reply from bytes=32 time=34ms TTL=243
      Reply from bytes=32 time=39ms TTL=243

      Ping statistics for
      Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
      Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
      Minimum = 31ms, Maximum = 67ms, Average = 42ms

      This means that you have an ACTIVE internet connection and what is most probably blocking your connection is your Internet Security Suite or THIRD PARTY FIREWALL ie ZONE ALARM, AVG NORTON

      Also POWER CYCLE your Sky Broadband Box by disconnecting the black power cable for about 20 seconds then try a website. If this does not work then do a full reset on your Sky Broadband Box by holding a pen or paper clip into the reset hole of your Sky Broadband Box for 15 seconds then releasing.

      If this does not work then try going to your router settings page
      Username = admin
      Password = sky
      Go to Connection Status then select DISCONNECT then run a Sky Test it should sucessfully complete then go back to CONNECTION STATUS then select CONNECT this rehashs your internet connection now try a webpage, most of the time this will work might be worth a go before calling up tech support

      Also some people are setting their IP addresses to this is incorrect as this is the default gateway for the router setting it to this WILL cause a conflict if you are setting the IP addresses manually they need to be set at or above setting it at will just cause you alot of problems and a few extra pounds on your phone bill as well
