      Using a second router as switch

      I have one router plugged into wall socked as my main router for internet and is wireless

      I have another router 2 floors above which is netgear. can i plug that router into the wall socket configure it and use it also as a wireless access point for internt? also what settings ddo i have to change in that router to use as switch?

      If by plugging second router into wall socket you mean phone socket, no.

      As far as I know best solution is to connect second router to first by long ethernet and use as an Access Point (ie extend your network's wireless reach). I think you have to turn off the modem part of the second router and change it's IP address so it doesn't clash with the main router -- there's something about DHCP which I don't fully remember but, hopefully, others will.

      There's info on using Netgear router this way on Netgear's site -- including, I think, a Sticky in the User Forum's Wireless Router section.
