      Can't see any sites

      Hi all
Many apologies if this has been covered, I have looked and couldn't see it. If I have missed it, sorry....anyway....
My g/f had Sky BB installed a few weeks ago (about 5) and since then, it has hardly really worked.
She is trying to connect wirelessly, the router is found ok, excellent signal etc but on most occasions we can't bring up any site, just getting page not found error, as if nothing is coming through. It does occasionally work, but hasn't at all for the last 2 weeks. Just not able to see any sites at all.
Sky have said it may have something to do with the security setting as its an old laptop, but its the same on mine using the correct settings on a laptop that is 6 mths old.
Anyone got an ideas? Is it a sky thing, is it a BT line thing?
She is getting very annoyed and unhappy with it.

See if you can talk to the router user interface via Internet Explorer -- see Sky CD help files or tutorial here for how. First try by wireless. If no joy try to connect by etherrnet cable instead (you may have to add a USB or cardbus USB ethernet adapter for 10+). Once in I'd turn off wireless encryption temporarily and see if you can then connect wirelessly.

If you have no trouble connecting to the router's user interface but still can't get on the internet you need to consider line problems. Try posting router stats here (see tutorials for how to obtain them) and others will try to help.

Erm, I'll give that a go.

I did try to bring up the page on IE for the router, but that wouldn't work either

What OS(s) are you running? If you can't connect to the router interface, it is likely to be a settings problem. Do your laptops have ethernet ports? If so, use the yellow cable to connect to the router.

XP, I will try the ethernet and see what that does, I think I did that the other week and nothing, but not 100% so will try again

      Hi

      Try this

Open IE < Click Tools < Internet Options < Connections < Tick Never Dial a connection < Click LAN Settings < Untick all boxes on there < OK < Then OK or Apply to close it.

      Then try again.
