      Virgin Media Persuasion

I am going onto Sky Broadband 16MB, and today I phoned up Virgin media to cancel my 4 MB account. The lady said I will only get 2mb download speed. I live 795 metres from the exchange in a straight line. I thought I should get a higher speed than that.
Is she trying to persuade me to stop with them?

Had the same with BT I was told that Sky wasn't in my area yet, I could only get 4 meg/sec with them and it wasn't 10/month and generally every other downright lie to put me off.

If these companies can't keep customers with good prices instead of trying to stop people from leaving with better prices or products they then just try and put people off with telling lies.

That VM site is most definately wrong - apparenlty i can only get 6MB ADSL, but lo and behold their rival and competitor Sky are able to privde me with consistent 13-15MB - wonder why im with them and not with VM lol

Even if your line length is twice this, which is quite possible, you should still get 16Mb or very near it. Talk about sour gapes......

Don't forget that this figure is the actual distance from your house to the exchange. Your line could quite possibly go all over the place before it reaches your house. I am 739 metres from my exchange and I can't get anything above 6MB.

Thats because Max uses ADSL2+. The checker on the site is giving you a estimate on normal ADSL.

Are you sure you are connected to this exchange? BT don't always connect you to the nearest one.
