      Slow Broadband Speed --Advice Needed--

Hi guys, im new here, just need some advice of my current broadband speed, as it seems and is much slower compared to when i first signed up to sky broadband around 3 weeks ago.

When i first had Sky BB i had speeds of around 13000kb/s D 550kb/s U

      Now i barely topple speeds of 2000kb/s D 450kb/s U

Re: Slow Broadband Speed --Advice Needed--

You are synced with the exchange at a good speed over 16mb, 19 minutes of stats dont really reveal very much you need 2 or 3 hours worth with heavy usage ie downloading or something which may then show you have line errors etc.
      Things to try:
1:Turn uPNP off on the front page of the router menu.
2:Try wired connection if you are using wireless.
3:Find your BT master socket thats the first one as the line comes in to the house, then if is the NTE5 type with a split face plate, remove the front plate and you should find a test socket hidden behind there, plug your router on its own direct into that test socket. This connects you direct to the BT line and disconnects any extension wiring which can be a major source of problems. If things improve when plugged into the test socket there are changes that can be made to the wiring to improve things.

always detailed stats, basic dont show anything of any use!!!

id say its a case of wireless or needing to use a TCP optimizer of some sort as that line is showing no errors (albeit a short period of time)

This same thing happened to me recently.. coincidence?

If you find a solution please share it. Nothing I have tried has worked. I considered calling sky and asking them if something was up but so far haven't found the time.

Re: Slow Broadband Speed --Advice Needed--

what i meant was the errors (if there were going to be any) would show instantly - although it has only been up for 20mins on the stat list.....a good few hours (6+) would show if there is anything to worry about but i wouldnt think there is.....might be a DNS issue/TCP issue or is cause of wireless but we'll see when they reply cause at present Sky would wipe their hands of it as its showing 16MB with no errors so more than likely something EU end...
