      Sudden Speed Drop!

      Well yea, since yesterday i kept disconnecting every 2-5 minutes, rang Sky they said its normal as im migrating to Max from Connect.

      Today its cleared up, but now my download speed has gone down to 2.5MB from 4.5MB and I am syncing at 7.5-7.6MB

      Heres my stats.

      Connection Speed 7648 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 26.0 db 15.0 db
      Noise Margin 15.2 db 23.0 db

      Help/advice appreciated!

      Please post your full stats.

      Then run a test here wired.

      Post both results.


      PS. As far as I can tell you're still on Connect so there's not a lot to be done in advance of getting Max other than improving your line.

      Yes, you're still on Connect. This is a contended service and is very prone to speed issues when the exchange is heavily loaded. There's nothing you can do about this. However, to be sure there's not some problem with your PC setup, (and that was wired wasn't it?), I'd recommend running TCPoptimizer if you haven't already.

      The good news is that your line errors are low and hopefully will remain so when you switch across to Max.

      Yes i only used wired, wireless isnt needed. Ill try that optimizer, thanks.
