      Re: Slow Download Speeds

As there seems to be a few experts on here I thought i'd ask...........

When I check my wireless network tab on windows I noticed I am receiving hardly any of the ''packets'' that are sent.

Now I have no idea what this means but at this moment in time it says

      Activity

Packets sent 2813 Packets received 242

What does this mean???? I noticed this happens alot and this is when my internet browser pretty much stops.

      PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Been onto sky again tonight, they are sooooo helpful, NOT!!!

Are you using wireless? Packets sent are those that go from your PC to the router, packets received are those that come from the router back to your PC. It is quite normal for these to be different, in fact it would be surprising if they were the same.

      Re: Slow Download Speeds

I have been running wireless (or trying to)

While running the test etc i have been using the ethernet cable but ultimately I want to run wireless.

Because both pc are upstairs and my router is downstairs (@ the phone line).

      Re: Slow Download Speeds

Performance you get from wireless depends a lot on what you are trying to transmit through. Moving the router or the PC a few feet can often improve the reception quite a bit. You may find the utilities in THIS post useful.
