      Hi Vicky

I’ve checked your line today and I note that your line is clear. I have therefore contacted the relevant area and initiated the manual update of our systems. I expect this to be completed within the next few working days. I shall continue to liaise with the relevant department to ensure that it is completed as soon as possible.

As soon as I have any further information, I shall be in contact with you.

      Kind regards

      Michael

      same day efficiency
      Hi Vicky

I have received confirmation that the manual update of your account has now been completed. I have therefore placed a new order for Sky Broadband this afternoon.

In order to get the activation date brought forward, I shall have to wait for your order to complete its initial checks. These should be completed by tomorrow, so I shall contact BT tomorrow morning.

Re: [tag on the line] stuck with sky

Hello there, after much hassle, Sky finally cleared the line and also sent me a router. I plugged it in yesterday and it automatically connected.

However, my activation date should be 4th september (On BT's order tracking page, it says that the line will be connected by 3rd Sept)

I did a speed test by BT and got:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
      DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1090 kbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
I am meant to have 8Mbps line (the mid package) is it normal that before activation date to only receive 2Mbps?

      Thanks...

I may be wrong but, I don't think this test will work at all if you are on Mid. From what your test returned, I would say you are on Connect.

Re: [tag on the line] stuck with sky

really? maybe it is misguided results then.

I should be on Mid as i am within Sky's net work area.

My connection has been very slow, most of the time less than 1Mbps...

But I guess I can't report this until after the activation date?

If your activation day is the 4th, you'll be able to report it from the 10th (activation date + 3 working days)

      448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM

is reflective of Connect (BTIPstream MAX) which is not LLU (Mid in your case).

Remember that although you are supposedly on an 8mb service, your distance from the exchange, contention ratio etc will determine what speed you will actually get.

In which case it might be that the line length is longer than 500 metres, although it shouldn't degrade by that much.

Re: [tag on the line] stuck with sky

it seems that something is capping it at 2Mbps, i don't know what though....my observation is it has never shot over 2Mbps in terms of speed.

I will ask Sky probably later this week.
