Connection constantly dropping and now speeds have dropped

      Hi

Im new to the Forum here, so I am sorry if the question has already been posted.
I am on Sky Mid Broadband

      1) My internet connection keeps dropping out, and the only way to get it back is to either reboot the router through teh control panel and by actuallty reseting it at the box.
I have spoke to SKY support and they eventually decided it was a prblem on the line and to contact my line provider.
My line provider 'Phone CoOp' say their is no problem on the line.

      2) My speeds have now dropped from an average of 4500 to 860. It doesnt matter if a reboot my router, the speeds stay the same. Its slow that pages dont even load,

      Are the two problems connected??

      Thanks for any advice

      PKea

Hi I have two suggestions for you.

1). If you haven't already done it try turning Upnp off in router settings.
2). Post your detailed stats taken from the test socket. see PLEASE READ FIRST: How to obtain and post router stats if you unsure what I mean.

Hah! Exact same thing has happened to me (on Mid) and I'm am on a totally different and distant exchange to you (in London). First they ended up changing the line card at the exchange and then my speeds dropped heavily.

Re: Connection constantly dropping and now speeds have dropped

I spoke to SKy last night and apparently they are changing the equipment at the Exchange from BTs to Skys, and thats the reason for the speed drop.

They also say that they are migrating my package from connect to Mid.
As far as i was aware i have always been on mid, beacsue that was what i signed up for.

Anyway, if nothing changes once they have sorted the exchange i will post up my stats,

      Thanks
