      Test socket help!

      Hi people, well i have been on sky connect for a while and getting around 3mb, phoned sky today and max is now avaliable so i have signed up (takes 10 days he said). ANyway i was having a look at the router stats etc and noticed that the attenuation was very high:

      Connection Speed 5056 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 52.0 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 5.8 db 18.0 db

      so i plugged the router into the test socket:

      Connection Speed 4998 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 15.5 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 6.1 db 18.0 db

      after about 5 mins its gone back up to;

      Connection Speed 5056 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 51.0 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 5.8 db 18.0 db

      any ideas???

      Re: Test socket help!

      The 15.5 is a bug in the router software, rebooting the router usually fixes it. Your noise margin is very low at 5.8, which can cause problems. You are showing a slight improvement plugged into the Test socket, so it may be worth checking your extensions and disconnect the ring wire if it is connected. Maybe you should post your full detailed stats and someone may give further advice.
