      Re: Connection Keeps Dropping

I have turned on the utility suggested and have not had it reboot my router once in the 10 minutes or so.

The connection also seems alot faster to me.

Admitedly I can see the router from here!

Somewhere along your line ou havn't got a filter in the correct way.
Perhaps at your sky box. I do telephone line extensions for people, and they always think 1 filter at the phone is enough. but sometimes they filter the extension or they dont filter a phone. etc. but at ur master socket u have gone from 1mb connection to 3mb. and it looks alot better.

      Re: Connection Keeps Dropping

I have a filter at the main box with a phone plugged into it, an extension from the back of the main box to another room where there is a filter plugged in and the router plugged into that.

My sky box does have a filter too, but its not normally plugged in to the telephone line.

      Re: Connection Keeps Dropping

Your telephone extension is obviously degrading your connection. You sync having jumped by a factor of 3, means that somewhere along the line your extension is faulty. This may be due to a loose connection or simply inferior wiring. Either way I would recommend you fit an ADSL Nation Faceplate This will allow you to do away with loose filters and will eliminate any extension faults. You can either sit the router beside it or fit a dedicated ADSL extension.

      Re: Connection Keeps Dropping

The extension going to your router should be plugged into the main socket(un filtered) Perhaps thats the problem. Unless it is a hard wired line. If so you can check by removing the screws and if the wires are attached. How many are attached.
There should only be 2 wires attached numbers 2 and 5.

If 3 is attached it means that your had wired line is filtered. This can be fixed easily by removing wire number 3.

Failing that i would suggest a new extension hard wired with an adsl nation faceplate like isitme suggested.

Or ofcourse you could leave your router at ur main test socket if you are not that bothered.
