      Problems, need some expert help!

      First problem:

Every night at approx 11pm the router seems to die. When I check the status page I have no IP address etc. I have to do a reboot and after about 10 minutes of detecting PPPoA etc. it comes back to life.

      Second Problem:

When ever I click on a webpage never visited before I get the standard IE "Cannot Find The Site" message. If I hit refresh about 10 times, the page loads

Can anyone help, tearing my hair out here (took about 5 minutes just to laod the forum up!)

      Thanks

First problem: check it's not a noise margin issue - see the first sticky in my signature at the bottom of this post.

Second problem: first try flushing your DNS cache, second try switching your DNS servers to openDNS (if you don't know how to do either of these, post back), third try Firefox/Opera etc.

      Thanks.

Cleared DNS cache - no change
Changed to OpenDNS - does appear to have resolved the problem with pages being found - thanks.

With regard to the niose etc. don't really understand all that stuff (previously on cable - 10 meg connection, totally stable - never had to play with it). COuld you look at my stats and see if they look ok?

      Connection: 5284
      Attenuation: 45db
      Noise: 9.2db

      Many thanks

cable is a completely different technology to DSL so cannot be compared to it - cable is vastly superior but you pay for it

They're a bit high level but on first look, no, they don't look great.

Post your full stats so that more info is shown (reboot your router then run it hard for an hour before taking them).
