      tcp optimizer

Hi i am trying to use the tcp optimizer on my windows vista laptop to improve wireless connection speed, but it doesnt let me change the settings because only administrators can do so apparantly. But I am the administrator user as I am the only person using that laptop. What can i do to get round this? also, what settings should i use...I am a novice at all this, and any advice is much appreciated!!

      Re: tcp optimizer

I'm not a Vista user but this may help. If/when you set a password, don't forget it!

BTW TCPOptimizer will do nothing to improve your wireless speed. It only affects the "pipe" between the router and the PC/laptop not the method of connection. First try a wired connection. If this is also slow (i.e. <80% of your router sync on a fast server) then consider TCPOptimizer - though I'm not entirely sure whether it is Vista compatible.

      Re: tcp optimizer

It works on vista mostly (you can't do the MTU test, as Vista's network stack is different to XP's). You just need to right click the programme icon and run it under adminstrator to get it to work properly. Well that's what i did.
