Pipex to SKY = problems
Hi all,
I've been with Pipex bb for around 3 years (dial up before that) without a single problem. In June I changed over to SKY with everything going smoothly.
Since then I have experienced numerous dropouts per day using both a wireless laptop and a PC with wireless adapter - the speed drops to 1Mbps although it stays connected any web pages time out.
I've gone into the router and disabled UPnP and have tried running on different channels to no better effect.
Can anyone offer any advice?
I've just spoken to SKY support who, after telling me to delete cookies & history files, now tells me that it is because I am running my own personal copy of McAfee and not theirs. He couldn't pass me onto 2nd level support because "the computer hadn't asked him to" !!!!
After being told there were no supervisors available to talk to me I offered to cancel my service to which he duly gave me the address to write to.
I'd rather not if I can help it, but there really has been no change whatsoever since leaving Pipex and I now find my connection unusable.
Any help gratefully received,
Franz.
P.S. I'm another who can't access NUFC.com

Re: Pipex to SKY = problems
thats a shame you're getting connection/drops problems cos I used to be with Pipex too, they were and still are a nightmare with me.
I'm glad I changed to Sky. I have slight problems connecting etc too sometimes, but it's righting itself somehow.
I use a desktop pc so are joined by ethernet, which should mean good connection..........

Re: Pipex to SKY = problems
Haven't tried it wired yet, it shouldn't be a PC/laptop problem as nothing has changed since switching over.
Here are my router stats anyway, thanks for looking at them:

Re: Pipex to SKY = problems
Hi,
Wireless connection has nothing to do with your actual connection to sky. There is a problem however but i can only think its a problem with your router or your wireless adapters ( incompatability ) i too came from pipex and have had no real problems although i mainly use wired connection but the laptop is always 54mbs full strength so try a wired connection first and if thats fine then trying tech support will be easier as you can just say my connection is fine its my wireless thats a problem.
