If it is connect you are on you need to wait about 3 days with the router in the ideal situation before any speeds will be adjusted.

I am no expert but basically it works like this(I think):

(NB. This is after the 10 day period so I don't know what it will be doing with yours)

See here for details ::. Kitz - How MaxDSL works .:: all I can say is be patient and allow the exchange to play about with your line.

Best thing at the moment is to do nothing.

I would even be tempted to disconnect all extensions and have a phone coming off of the test socket with the router.
      ------

Advice given is in good faith and if taken is done so at your own risk. If in doubt consult a qualified person.

Aye, thanks for getting back to me Koala5. What with the TS lady telling me to reset (via black knob on back) and the SNR changes, it may not be as long as I'd wanted.

You are on the Connect package so you should not be messing about with SNRs or anything else. Your line must be 'trained' and if you keep messing about you will only make things worse for your self. I know it is not easy, but be patient, wait till the training period is up before you do anything. Keep your router plugged in to the Master socket and just leave it to do it's job. When the equipment at BT completes it's tests and sets the line profile, then you can start looking for ways to improve it.

Thanks for the reading material! So from that webpage, I've got to wait until after the 10 days for my upload speed to be set, and that may be different to the sync speeds I'm seeing in the modem now.

Tech support didn;t mention anything about this, saying that I had a fast speed in my router and that's what I should be downloading at. Hence me starting to think it's something inside my PC.

Re: 50kb/sec is not broadband! I need some help!

I think as your on bt's network, BT are capping your speeds. this amounts to much the same as i was getting from pipex when they throttled my 2mbs connection down to 25k / 30k which was not acceptable so i joined sky.

Remember though i dont think sky can change anything on your line as your basically on a bt package resold by sky. No amount of changing settings will change this only sky can ASK bt to uncap your line.

If your router stats are 7mbs you should get 800k/sec downloads unless your capped by bt.

      Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. The irony here of course is that I changed from Pipex to Sky, lol. So I should just grin and bear it until day 10?

Well at the end of day 4, my speed has increased to a relatively glorious 50-60kb/sec!!
