      Thinking of joining Sky BB

      Hello all.

I have been thinking about moving to Sky for my BB connection. I am currently with Be* and sync at Up 1,287 / 17,935 Down (I have achieved 23,000+ on fastpath but had a couple of dropouts)

What speeds approx would i see on Sky, seeing as the max connection is 16mb as opposed to Be's 24mb?

The second question I have is...

Can I migrate from Be to Sky? I have read somewhere that you cannot (Sky dont accept LLU MAC Codes?) but i know someone who has migrated on LLU from UKOnline to Be.

      Any help is appreciated.

      Thankyou.

what is your reason for moving as your dl speed will reduce to 16Mb and your UL down to 700Kb?

cost is the main reason, seconded by a decrease in the connection at Be in general.

Would i be looking at getting close to the 16mb?

      Thanks

Re: Thinking of joining Sky BB

if you can get over 16Mb on your current LLU, then you will on sky as they use exactly the same copper cable under the ground.

Why not post your full router stats that you currently get. if you are not sure how to do this, then find your router or modem on this site below for details ::. Kitz - Get your adsl line stats .::

well an attenuation of 26db would give 12mb-16mb.

Your noise margin of 6db also looks low, which would give an unstable connection at 17Mb (at least on sky it would).

Re: Thinking of joining Sky BB

      Thanks for your replies.

My usual speed tests are about 14-15mb on that sync of nealy 18mb. I have had an actual speedtest of 19.5mb when synced at 23mb so the speed is fine. Im just sick of the continual daily disconnections and at 24 a month is too much for such a slipping service.
Any idea's on the LLU to LLU migration, doesnt sound like its possible according to sky?

      A speedtest ive just done:

Re: Thinking of joining Sky BB

The daily disconnection is because you are pushing your connection too much.

for your bt line length, you should only sync the router at 16Mb max, whilst more is possible (with your current ISP), it will lead to an unstable connection.

As sky offer 16Mb tops, then you will auto be capped back compared to your current ISP, so the disconnections should reduce.
