      Strange DL Speeds

OK I am having a number of broadband issues. None more annoying than the constant disconnections when using the wireless. Although that is not the purpose of this post. I am apparently connected at over 6MB but I am only able to DL at about 60KBs.

Maybe some stats will help as I dont know how to read these very well.

Before I plugged directly into the test socket: -

      Re: Strange DL Speeds

      1. Is the DL of 60Kb wired or wireless. If wireless, test using a wired connection
      2. have you ran the optimiser (see my sig).

      Re: Strange DL Speeds

It is a wired connection as my wireless is too flakey.

      I will try the optimizer!

      Re: Strange DL Speeds

Well according to that site: -

Date of Speed Test: 2007-07-23 19:20:14
Download Speed: 5178 kbps (647.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 651 kbps (81.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

ALthough they are not the speeds a get from any site including Microsoft etc

      Re: Strange DL Speeds

for MS i got a very erratic speed ranging from 40KB up to 400KB, then down to 70KB.

Itunes was about 250-350KB (not maxxing my available speed thou).

Both not constant, so looks like its the web server at the actual sites where the problem lies.
