PS I use a download manager (DAP) which uses multiple streams to get the best speed. Download Accelerator Plus - Free Download Manager

      Re: Strange DL Speeds

it is definately not a site problem. I have just plugged into my old VM connection (not been switched off yet) and got 485Kbs from MS.

My speed test results were : -

Date of Speed Test: 2007-07-23 20:20:43
Download Speed: 4804 kbps (600.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 244 kbps (30.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

So you can see there is no real difference in the speedtest results for either my SKY or my VM connections

      Re: Strange DL Speeds

      Sorry, but it can be.

It all depends on what route your connection takes to get there.

Ie you are travelling from London to glasgow in the same car, but one time you go up the M1 and the other the M40.

If there is an accident on one route, then it will slow you down.

You need to trace the route that both VM and Sky take to see where the actual hold up takes place.

      Re: Strange DL Speeds

I know routing plays a part but I have actually proved it was not the site, if it was the site then all users would get slow DL's. Routing is a different kettle of fish completely. If it is a routing issue then surely that is down to SKY. If it is my connection then that also is down to SKY.
