My Speed from 15Mb Dropped To 12Mb

      Hi,
I got my Sky BB in November 2006 but due to some tech issues at Sky and BT exchange my BB did to work till March 2007.

Im on the Max (16MB). I got 15MB which was fine but in April 07 to date it has dropped to 12MB. I phone Tech Support who say 12mb is fine for a 16mb customer and they closed my ticket.

      What can I do?
I've tried these tweeks but they dont work.

      Im using wired connection.

      Here is my stats

      Any help would be appreciated

The noise margin suggests that noise on your line has caused the lower speed.

Your attenuation is very good, you must be awfully close to the exchange, so your line would most certainly be capable of 15mb.

I'd first try replacing your filters, and try at the test socket if you can ... see if you've added any new devices to the line recently, that might be causing this.

It looks like your line has been capped at 12Mb, possibly by an automatic regrade.
Did you have a support ticket open for any problems?

tried new filter still the same result but my noise margin on downsteam has gone to 16.2db
Opened about 5 tickets but tech support say 12mb is sufficent and closed them
Tried test socket still no change.

Give it a few days at the lower margin, it should go up a bit.

Do you have any other things plugged into the line, do you use an extension cable?

The sync rate wont change unless you reboot no matter how many days you give it.

You can manually set your NM by using mognuts util (as long as Sky haven't capped your line at 12Mb).

Re: My Speed from 15Mb Dropped To 12Mb

I phoned Sky BB Tech and said "Why have you capped by BB at 12MB, I live 151yds from BT exchange" the advisor said that is not capped so I kicked off and asked to speak to a manager. eventully got hold of a manager who checked my line and guess what it was capped at 12mb when I asked why the manager said that he was unsure why it was capped and by who and apologised. He then started typing away on his keyboard and rebooting my modem at his end and hey presto all fixed.

      Thanks guys for your help

      I'm happy
