you can't physically use the DSL cable without a filter as it's a different size to a normal phone - UNLESS you have another DSL cable which has a normal phone jack on it. In which case you'd be plugging it into the 'phone' side of the filter which would result in no internet....use the grey cable that came with the router (has 2 clear square jacks either end)....

      Re: Router Problem?

it was getting connected thru an extension to give the correct size end, its at my gf house and i'm trying help from mine on my connection as she cant get on the net' the extension has the same square end as the filter box modem connection so can go straight in, when using without the extension and using a filter box it finds no connection

hope this clears thing up, she's getting realy stressed and cant work it out, of cause this is my fault !!

      Re: Router Problem?

try the router in the filter without the extention - if this works then the extention is the issue. It should be master socket-filter-phone/router and thats it

if u then need to get to the PC, get a longer ethernet cable...

EDIT - and only use the cables that came with the router, the router HAS to go through the modem side of the filter...(don't mean to sound patronising)
