well plugged it into master socket and now getting these router stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 33.5 db 19.1 db
Noise Margin 7.9 db 13.0 db

Should i set my noise margin at 10db and see what happens overnight again?

To be honest I am happy with a speed around 10/11mb but i just want it to be consistent throughout the day, the earache I get off the missus when I get home really isn't worth the extra 4 mbs!!!!

Re: Having to reset router every night??

I would set it at around 14db to be honest. That should leave you with a reading of around 9db+ in the evening!

is that the master socket or the test socket underneath the master socket face plate (it needs to be the latter).

Yes set you NM now up to what ever makes the router sync at 10Mb and see how you get on. You just need to keep playing until you find the most stable rate for your internal line conditons.

Yes removing my ring wire fixed all my problems completely. Looks like you have had an improvement going into the test socket so you may have issues with your wiring. Definately worth the time having a play and if you can fix it you get the best of both worlds 4mb extra + stable connection

Re: Having to reset router every night??

try using mognuts util and change the mode to g.dmt. YOur connection speed will reduce a lot, but it will be good to see what the impact is and therefore help pin point a fix.

Re: Having to reset router every night??

Well i have removed wire 3 (and 4 and 6 from different sockets) so i think i will set the nmr again and leave it over the weekend.

1 thing though, when removing ring wire from the 2nd socket i couldn't get it out (screw holding in place wouldn't budge) so i had to clip it. Will this cause extra noise or will it not matter cus its not attached to anything??

btw stats from router after removing and putting back on original socket

Line Attenuation 33.5 db 19.5 db

Re: Having to reset router every night??

you are still getting some errors, but obviously not noticeable.

If you are happy with the set up, then leave well alone from now on.
