      Broadband Max Problems

After getting Sky broadband max (eventually) and got conected a few problems were observed. Firstly the speed was not what was expected, I think around 200kbps was recorded. In addition to this the connection would occasionally cut out, in the way that the internet page would not load and msn would cut out etc, although it still said the connection was active. After looking on the forums I tried the master socket, this has seemed to resolve the cutting out but the low speed remains a mystery. I live 1.11km from my exchange. Here are my router stats

If anyone could help me or advise me what i can do, that would be excellent.

Will changing to ADSL2+ make any difference, also will ringing sky up help if I explain the problem to them. As I live 1.11km from my exchange surely a drop of speed this big cant be down to that. Any suggestions. Also Im running on wireless and UPnP is off.

      Re: Broadband Max Problems

Your stats look ok, although the router hasn't been running long and you are capped at 8mb. Are you using wireless and have you turned uPNP off in the router menu?

      Re: Broadband Max Problems

Yes I am using wireless. The reason the router hasnt been running long is because i moved it to the test socket this morning. What will turning off uPnP do? There a particular reason for being capped? Is there anything I can do to become uncapped and get to the promised land that is 16mb, or is that not possible across wireless, sorry but Im a relative newbie

Most probably the reason - what do you get wired?

      Re: Broadband Max Problems

uPNP is a known bug which cause's disconnections and speed issues. Once you have stabilised your connection you should be able to ask Sky to uncap you and switch you to ADSL2+ which should give you more speed. Also try wired connection to rule out wireless causing your speed issues.

      Re: Download speeds

On wired its about the same, if not lower as I can't use wired and run off the test/master socket. If there known way around this apart from a really long wire and moving the master socket.

      Re: Broadband Max Problems

What is known as a stable connection. I have moved to a wired location but the speed is dire. Also is the test socket different to the master socket and are there any issues running off the test socket?

Anyway here are my stats for a wired at a different socket

Is this an internal cabling issue aswell as sky capping my speed and not putting me on ADSL2+?
