      Constantly "Acquiring Network Address"

      Hi,

All day yesterday and this morning whenever I try to connect to the internet both wih or without wireless I keep getting the same info. It seems to connect then disconnect and keeps saying acquiring network address. I have reset booted my laptop, re set the router, kept it switched off all night, and tried it with two differant laptops and still the same problem? Can this be due to an exchange error in my area or is this a router issue as I am connecting but not fully and the computer is searching for an address but the router is not providing one??

Please help - I am losing money as we speak!!

You may want to reconsider your decision to run a business that relies on an Internet connection, on a free, domestic Internet connection. It'll earn you little sympathy.

It's going to be a problem with the router if your PC is saying it can't acquire an address either wired or wireless.
Perhaps try resetting the router again.

Hang on, where are you getting the error 300 from if your PC doesn't have an IP!?
Error 300 means the ROUTER is unable to get an IP address. This could be an outage at the exchange, but there are no outages I'm aware of at the moment, certainly none still ongoing from overnight.

      Re: Constantly "Acquiring Network Address"

I ran a test with a sky "techi" and the error 300 can up my laptop screen. I seem to be online but cant access any internet sites. It keeps connecting then 3 seconds later disconnects and the message acquring network is constantly by my connection icon although I have an "excellent" signal.

      Re: Constantly "Acquiring Network Address"

So your saying this is likely to be because of the local Exchange?? I rang them and they said it was fixed this morning. Can you see if there was actually anything wrong with my local exchange at all mate?

Thanks for helping me by the way!

      Re: Constantly "Acquiring Network Address"

error 300 prob means either an exchange issue or ur router has 'stale sessioned' itself - a job only tier 3 can fix im afraid....

usually resetting the router (powering down, not the button in the back) and leaving it for an hour can fix it but if not then you'll have to call for it to be sorted
