      New activation question

I hope I'm on the right board, sorry if I'm not.

I'm migrating to Sky & they have given me an activation date of 18 July. so, on that date, do I just wait until my current connection stops working then plug in the Sky router?

      Welcome Sweetie.

Some have reported their activation date was late.
A few that it was early. I was activated on time.

Make sure you have told your old ISP that you have
      cancelled by email or letter.
Some posters have reported being charged by their old ISP
      even though they cancelled.

Also, see the First Time Set Up link below.

Do you not need to call your ISP to get the Mac to change service in the first place?

Do I have to phone them up again afterwards?

      Re: New activation question

      Welcome Simple Rules.

"Yes" to get the MAC code.
But getting the MAC code is not necessarily also
      an automatic cancellation.
So confirm the cancellation by letter or email.
When you do that depends on your activation date
to minimise any time you will be without broadband.
In the first instance you need to find out which
Sky BB product is available in your area.
And how it compares to your current service.

Only to make sure your account with them is closed as this does not always happen. I moved from BT to Sky and my BT account was not closed and it to a little while to sort it all out and for them to issue me with a cheque for 8 as I had already been charged for a full month when I moved during it.

      Re: New activation question

      Thanks guys.

I am phoning Pipex tommorow as its when my contract ends to get the MAC, I expect that within 2 (working?) days so sometime nextweek I'll signup to Sky online and then wait the 10 days.

I hope its done before I go away, I'm going on holiday 28th July so I don't want this looming ... but I suppose as long as I phone Pipex again to check and confirm before August 13th, it should be OK.

      Re: New activation question

Thanks for the replies. Tomorrow is my activation date so wish me luck.
Funnily enough, the past few days I've been getting disconnected & haven't been able to reconnect for hours, bit weird.
