      wow not impressed at all.

Hey, new to the forums, I decided to do a little researching before punching the wall, I got my sky broadband max activated today, the router was already connected so that was no problem. Quite happy since I had the internet again, until I checked my speed, ridiculously terrible, 448KBPS down, 768 KBPS UP. I called sky, I spoke to a few people I could hardly understand, they kept telling me they couldnt help me until I gave it three days. I have been reading what people have said on this forum after being connected, atleast they are getting a meg or two, so I feel something is wrong, I am connected right into the wall, and I live 1.93 KM from the exchange. If someone could look at my stats and tell me if there seems to be a problem I would greatly appreciate it, also will my problem be fixed within the 3 days or is that them just getting me off the phone?

When you say you are connected to the wall, are you using the test socket?

Re: wow not impressed at all.

are you in the test socket off your master? or running through an extention socket? IF you've just gone active your line will be set to 8MB/768Kb and you're attenuation would only suggest the line can take around 3-4MB, possibly less....

Re: wow not impressed at all.

I just went directly into the test socket and now my downstream is at 640KBPS...this is really starting to bug me now. Is there any validity to their claims that the line adjusts after 3 days? and also I am pretty sure I should be receiving atleast 3-4 megs down right?

the training up is only on Connect packages, and even then its 10 days. What else is running through the filter? have you tried the other that come in the pack? take the TV off the filter as I've had some people recently who, although filtered right, saw their speed tripple taking the TV off the filter....

nothing is on the filter, it is directly from the test socket...do you think they maybe have me severely capped?

Re: wow not impressed at all.

in a word no....id personally say ur line is set to 8Mb/768Kb, and its now only syncing up less than a meg....chances are it cant take that and only syncing up low. OR its a faulty filter/router, you got another router??
