Unhappy Sky Connection Will Not Load Up Many Websites

I've recently had a problem with my internet connection in this thread
Sky BB Has Become Slow And Intermittent Since House Move
The problem was solved by using the Sky Netgear DG834GT Utility version 0.4 to set my target noise margin to 8dB.

My internet connection since has been working extremly well without my connection dropping.

However I woke up this morning to find my internet connection dead. So I rebooted my router which got me my connection back. But now for whatever reason I cannot access many websites (I get a "Server Timed Out" Error) especially if they're US based (i.e. Microsoft, Atari etc)

Now I've tried everything (restoring my router to factory settings, system restoring my pc) to no avail. I then thought it could be my PC so I checked the internet on my PSP and Wii and the same happens

So I then came to the conclusion that there is something wrong over the pond. But to double check I called a relative who lives literatly a few houses down from me (who is on BT Total Broadband) and asked him to try Microsoft Corporation . The website works for them (although I was told it took a long time to load) and it doesn't for me and even though we're on different broadband services we are connected to the same exchange

So has anyone have any ideas on whats gone wrong? This is really confusing me?

edit: Don't know if this will help but heres my detailed connection info

personally, on that sync speed, i think you'd benefit from g-dmt.....no ADSL2+ and not Fastpath (which you shouldn't be on anyway)....

only my opinion tho...have you tried your test socket to eliminate a wiring fault?

the above stats are on the test socket. And i've always used the test socket as I get double the speed (well i should be getting double the speed )

Ok i'll try using G.DMT, any ideas how i get from fastpath to interleaved?

edit: I've tried switching to G.DMT...no difference

If you really want your line set to ADSL and Interleave, you need to phone up Sky tech and get through to Tier 3, they are the only ones that can guarantee that your line will be set up correctly

Re: Sky Connection Will Not Load Up Many Websites

Well i've just got off the phone with Sky Broadband support. Firstly their support has improved massively since the last time I've had to call them . Secondly they've indentified the problem as a phone line fault.

The friendly women on the phone told me that currently I'm getting 5MB (8MB if i use the test socket) but I should be getting 12.5MB (I was quoted 12MB when I first moved). I am now waiting for a call back from Tier 3 support in the next 5 days *fingers crossed*

Well Sky say it is local exchange problem in Pelsall. So hopefully I will be able to get full web access and xbox live sorted by the weekend.

Hmm thats odd. When I was on the phone to them I suggested to them that it could be the exchange that was the problem but they said it would be unlikely as if it was a problem with the exchange then you would have no net connection at all

Well if it's that then thats good news. Hopefully that means that they already know what the problem is and hopefully there sorting it

BTW Legendary I've sent you a PM back
