Unhappy Speed reduction after switch from Connect to Mid

We lost our voice and Broadband last Sunday for 2 days. When it was fixed our Broadband speed had gone from 3.8meg to around 500kbps.

I called SKY - eventually getting a Tier 3 reference.

I was advised we had switched from CONNECT to MID on 2 July, coinciding with the loss of voice and broadband.

The op checked everything and said that she could see no probs with their equipment. She said the line should be capable of 5.5meg. She reduced the line speed setting from 8 meg to 5 meg, (it was set at 4 meg before the switch). There was no packet loss that she could see at 5 meg but did not alter it to 4.

This is the modem set up and associated Noise Margin which increases in the day to around 7.5 db

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5120 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 59.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 5.9 db 13.0 db

The speedtest/ noise margins were taken at 11.50pm.
      Download Speed: 1029 kbps (128.6 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 350 kbps (43.8 KB/sec

The line speed has now improved to 1 meg.

Where do I go from here, given that Tier 3 do not see I have a problem having suggested that as long as I was connected did the speed matter?

The set-up was wired when I got through to Tier 3.

It makes no difference wired or wireless, very variable speeds any speedtests fluctuate wildly all over the place.

IF you need further readings tell me what you need and how to do them

Bear in mind that no physical alterations have been made at my end to my network and that only one laptop is presntly attached with no other programs running.
