Shields Up - All Service Ports failure

      https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2

Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet. Most personal firewalls can be configured to block, drop, and ignore such ping requests in order to better hide systems from hackers. This is highly recommended since "Ping" is among the oldest and most common methods used to locate systems prior to further exploitation.

I have my Kerio firewall (supposedly) configured to block ICMP Echo requests.

How do I deal with this one in the Router firewall rules (or otherwise) please ?

Not that anyone here seems to be remotely bothered but the secret lies in the WAN SetUp on router configuration - turn respond to Ping on Internet Wan port off and hey presto - Shields Up passed

Bit of a wild accusation, it's a Sunday and some of us have families to see and look after.

Glad you got it sorted, I was going to suggest the same thing.

      Sorry Mr Newsreader Sir,

Having been plagued with viruses in the past (due to dodgy browsing history ) I'm now a PC security hypochondriac and after ditching Norton (as they caused me to have to reinstall my entire operating system) I just wanted to make sure I was watertight both with the new firewall enabled and disabled, to see what the router was cabable of blocking.

Responding to pings not the end of the world but disabling the facility makes the job of the scumbags at least one level harder
