New noob sky BB needs help.

      Hi guys,

Had my Sky BB installed last wednesday, connected @9.8 mbps and work well until 9.26pm that night, rebooted the router and got back online ok.

Now here is the problem, every night i get disconnected at 9.26 pm precisely, someone on another forum said to copy the log file just after the disconnection which i have done.

      Router log file.

      Tue, 2007-07-03 20:26:17 - LCP down.
      Tue, 2007-07-03 20:26:23 - Initialize LCP.
Tue, 2007-07-03 20:26:23 - LCP is allowed to come up.
      Tue, 2007-07-03 20:26:28 - CHAP authentication success
      Tue, 2007-07-03 20:26:47 - Administrator login successful - IP:192.168.0.2

I have my pc connected with a ethernet cable.
My 360 with a ethernet cable
My laptop with a netgear wireless usb dongle.

I get disconnected regardless of what is connected to the router or if all devices are connected.

Sky don't seem to have an idea what is going on and i'm a complete noob at all this stuff, so over to you guys.

      Thanks, Mark.

posting full stats could help, as we can see if its a cabling issue...

      Use this Mark:

Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4

      Click "Get" detailed modem statistics

      And follow onscreen prompts.

Re: New noob sky BB needs help.

you're line is generating a LOT of errors, you're on Fast path when you shouldn't be and chances are the line wont give you ADSL2+ properly.....a lot to sort out here!!!

firstly, try you're test socket (look at your master and if the faceplate splits when unscrewed then there'll be another socet inside there which bypasses al other sockets in your property) and the run the connection there for a bit - a good few hours - and repost ur stats

You need to try to improve your SNR as at 5.0 db its marginal.
Try connecting via the test socket, behind the faceplate on your mastersocket, and post your stats again.
To minimise the effect of extensions you can remove the bell wiring as per:-

Re: New noob sky BB needs help.

      Hi,

I dont have one of those split master sockets with a seperate socket behind the plate, only one of the old ones, i took the cover off to check how many wires there are and i only have two wires into pin 2 and pin 5, my router is connected to this master socket via the filter.

Edit... guys, while i appreciate your help on this does anyone have any idea why i get dropped at the same time evey day, the connection works perfect all day long till i get to 9.26 pm and then i'm off, is there some sort of automatic operation at the exchange that throws a switch when the network gets busy ( i'm grasping at straws here guys ) i just dont understand why it works all day long then bang 9.26 pm and i'm off.

Edit... oh one other thing, my connection speed is stable @ 8.4 mbps until my disconnection, when i reconnect i get 7.6 mbps until the morning when i reboot the router and i'm back to 8.4 mbps.

      Mark.
