Re: trying to connect to router with belkin wireless adapter

Is this a recent Belkin (ie at least 802.11g wireless mode) ?

First, check that the Belkin can detect the Sky router. If not, relocate the computer to the same room as the router.

If/when it can detect, select the Sky router, go into the Belkin's WPA wireless security settings and apply the Sky passphrase. It's printed on the router -- presumably you used it already to sort the laptop.

If that doesn't work access the router's user interface, preferably by ethernet cable, or via the laptop (though bear in mind that you must note any changes you make to the router setting and apply them to the laptop (because you will get cut off as you make changes). See the Sky CD help files for how to access the router user interface.

Once in try disabling wireless encryption temporarily. If the Belkin then connects it may be an 802.11b model so try applying WEP encryption at the router and at both computers. As this is not an ideal solution you may wish to replace the Belkin with an internal PCI wireless adapter to 802.11g standard, or better.
