      Re: Severe problems

Your errors are exteremely high, which would explain why your download speed is so low. I suspect this is happening with both computers, although for some reason it wasn't so evident when you used your laptop. Others may be able to suggest a cause.

      Re: Severe problems

You're on Fastpath which doesn't suffer errors well. You would be better off being switched to Interleaved (as you should be on this anyway). Most of those errors would then be FECs rather than CRCs.

I actually have no idea what you mean by that - could you explain it in layman's terms please?

      Re: Severe problems

Your line "CRC" errors are terrible no wonder you have speed problems, you need to plug your router into the test socket behind the face plate of your BT master socket that is the first socket as the line comes in to the house to rule out internal wiring as a problem. Run for a few hours then take the stats again. If things improve then your internal wiring is at fault.

      Re: Severe problems

oh ok. ive no idea which is my main socket, but if you say it's the first one then it's probably one that i've got by the staircase (completely unused, cos it's in an odd place :P).

to test that i'd also have to set up my pc wirelesslessy then.

      i'll give it a shot.

the problem i use to have previously (before this current one) was that i'd have to reboot the router every few hours, or else thing's would slow down horribly. i think i'm still having this problem, but it's not as noticeable because of the other one.

I think we've found the problem.
Look for a socket with a 'split' on the front running from left to right.
Remove the two screws and carefully pull off the bottom half.
Connect the router and filter to the now revealed socket on the bottom right, this is your test socket.
