      Migration, from BT to LLU

I am currently with BT Business on their Single package and am flirting with the idea of changing over, but have a question regarding migration and mac code.

I am wondering if its possible to move from normal adsl to LLU without any hassle, I thought it wasnt possible, has anyone done this?

Basicly im concerned as I dont wish to lose my connection for more than a few days.

Can I go normal adsl -> sky llu
or will sky change me from normal -> connect -> sky llu
or will it be a complete stop and reorder

      thanks to anyone with information

      Welcome

I migrated from a normal fixed 2mbps ADSL connection to Sky's LLU with zero problems or hassle.

The only issue might be the router, whereby Sky seem to send the router out to some people only after they have been activayed and as you might be aware you have to use this Sky router to make the connection to the internet.

I think it's only normally people who go for the non-LLU "Connect" service who tend to get the router after activation.

Sky LLU...should get the router before activation.

Thats not true about the router, if you know how to unlock it, you can get the information for logging onto sky.

Once you get the information you can use any router you want, its just you wont be getting any upgrades eg firmware etc if using something else.

Also if you upgrade the firmware on your router yourself make sure you get the user name and password to log onto sky first, by then the router can be used by any broadband provider as long as you have there user name and password.

One note though ok service, see i was having perfect service for the first week, firstly 11.5mbps then couple of days went down to 9.5mbps then after first week i was getting dropping connection every five mins.

I checked everything in house, nothing wrong with equip or line, luckily i got through to technical support in uk (i have phone no) and all it was that my line would be better of at 8mbps which they did and now its perfect no more dropping connection.

So you might have teething troubles at first, check all you stuff and if your satisfied its not your line and your equipment speak to someone in the uk not the phillepenes and theyll sort straightaway i mean while your on the phone, otherwise its really good.

      Good Luck.

      True.

I think what Alan b was getting at was that you're temporarily stuffed if the router turns up after your connection has been activated, as you have to wait for the router before you can use the connection (although you could use a different router, as you say, you need the ADSL login details - which would be in the router you don't yet have).

Yes you can migrate from BT to an LLU seamlessly, as LLu now accepts the use of MAC codes, which previously couldnt. I might add tho, you cant use BT for business use, if thats what you intended to do, dont tell em, Sue
