      Please help really sloe net!

      Hi people,

      Seems there are lots of diff problems relating to the internet being slow. so thought best just put my own up

      Sky got activated just yesterday, and works so crapily! I get 7000Kbps download / 500kpbs upload but pages take hours to load if at all! Ive had to come on this site at work cause it wont work at all at home!

      Ive rang sky and they just fob you off with complete and utter crap and it stresses me out. Im an IT manager and know what there talking about and tell me that the exchange is down when i can clearly use msn etc is a complete pile of dog poo.

      Ive got a main socket coming in to my house which i have the filter plugged into which connects router and the sky box. This phone line then stems off to a secondary socket which has the phone plugged into it and the 2nd sky box which is upstairs.

      Ive tried all sorts of combinations but the problem still persists! Tried router on its own, nothing else connected 1 filter 2 filters and nothing works.

      Any advice or help would be appriciated! I never had a problem on NTL and im wishing i never cancelled!

      NTL is cable and thus a totally different technology - you'd need to post your router stats and we can then diagnose the issue (for how to get router stats look in one of router threads)

      Have you tried the test socket behind the face plate of the master socket, extensions can still cause issues even if there's nothing plugged into the other end. Also you could post your detailed stats here using the proceedure below to see if we can spot anything.

      Go to the utility web site: Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4 Click the “Get” detailed modem stats button and click “OK”.
      Enter the router login user name and password.
      At the next screen, click the back button on your browser.
      Click the “Download” netgear.cfg button.
      What you do next depends on your operating system. On Windows XP, click the “Save” button to save the file to your hard disk. (If you click “Open”, you may find that the file association is one that doesn’t handle carriage returns the same way as the router, hence the reason for saying “Save”.)
      Open the file in WordPad (not notepad).
