Just to add to Saturdays remarks, when you phone BT just tell them that your phone line is noisy with whirrs clicks and static noises, DON'T mention Broadband. If you do, they will do next to nothing.

No. Your noise margin is fine. 6.9db is the default level - info if you need it in the first sticky in my signature at the bottom of this post.

Your connection is poor because your router is syncing at a fraction of the speed your attenuation would support on a good quality line. The tests you've done show this isn't down to your home phone wiring (which is the most common reason).

At the moment G.DMT is the right ADSL mode for you. If you are able to get rid of all the noise then ADSL2+ might be better.

Don't go via T3. Go direct to BT and use their voice fault reporting service.

Re: Are Sky telling the truth?

I have just been in contact with BT and told them my line was noisey, and they tested the line over the telephone. They called me back and said there was no fault.Would it now be worth getting one of their engineers out to take a look?Or would this test they've just done be enough.Thanks.

I already have an appointment with one of BT's engineers, so it will be interesting to find out the outcome.I will let you know on this forum as soon as i know what's what.

Re: Are Sky telling the truth?

This is another follow up to this ongoing problem regarding Sky.I've now had someone from BT come out and look at the line for possible faults. They said there was marginal noise of the line, but not enough to cause any problems. After talking to their engineer for a while, i casually asked about possible broadband problems.Luckily he seemed interested, and i showed him the stats from my router. The first thing he said was that he reckons Sky have capped the line, as there was no real reason for these low speeds.I spent yet another hour+ talking to their so-called tech experts that same day, and they said they would make more tests and get back to me.I'm still in the process of waiting(as usual) and have not heard another word from them. One strange thing has happened since posting the last set of stats on this forum.Shortly after talking to Sky, i noticed that the SNR has now dropped to 5.5 from 7.5.Also G.DMT is still present even though Sky promised me i would be switched to ADSL +2.This makes me even more convinced that i've been capped. Here are the updated stats, and i would appreciate any further advise regarding this terrible Sky service.Thanks.
